(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Curtis Salgado, the renowned bluesman, vocalist and harmonica player, will be on island for a pair of nights of funk, blues, and soul.<\/p>\n<p>Salgado will be performing at Godfather\u2019s Bar next week on Wednesday, Nov. 12, and Thursday, Nov 13.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, Salgado won three Blues Music Awards for his most recent album, Soul Shot. They were for Best Album, Male Artist of the Year, and B.B. King Performer of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSalgado is one of the most down-to-earth, soulful, and honest singers ever. His harmonica work is smoking and thoroughly invigorating, rollicking, funky, and electrifying,\u201d said Blues Revue magazine.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008, Salgado bounced back from health problems, and a successful liver transplant, with his album Clean Getaway.<\/p>\n<p>Billboard Magazine described the album as a \u201ctour-de-force\u201d of Salgado\u2019s vocal range and power. The magazine praised its \u201chardnosed blues\u201d and \u201cbeautifully nuanced phat and funky R&amp;B.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Salgado is also tipped as the inspiration of John Belushi\u2019s famous movie The Blues Brothers. Both the album and DVD of the movie are dedicated to Salgado.<\/p>\n<p>Salgado began his career singing in the 1960s when we he was just 16 years old. He has gone on be the lead singer and harmonica player with Robert Clay, Roomful of Blues, and in his own band, Curtis Salgado and the Stilettos.<\/p>\n<p>Salgado has shared the stage with many famous musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Watters, Sonny Rhodes, and Otis Rush.
