With that as my disclaimer, doesn’t anyone find it interesting that people always look at the numerical figure of the vote difference and try to make sense of why people voted the way they did? Spin doctors, if you will. Anyone remember the saying, “the glass is half full,” rather than the pessimistic version in which some choose to believe, “the glass is half empty.” As such a saying hints at all situations are based on one’s individual perspective.

After we filter out what was said on both sides of the aisle, I offer my assumptions on the array of comments that came out as a direct result of spinning. Basically, by coming out and attacking the whole Best Sunshine voucher release date and questioning the timing of its release, one camp seems to be questioning the voting population’s ability at discerning facts and overall ability to think critically. My question is, why use such as an excuse when it really makes that particular camp look like a child throwing a tantrum after not getting what they wanted? Didn’t you oppose Best Sunshine’s existence here to begin with? So why is the voucher a concern for you now? Obviously you are willing to take it now as you are using the disbursement as one of the reasons the Inos-Torres tandem received such high marks. We the people of this community are looking for any means to breathe a slight sigh of relief from the harsh realities brought on by being so far away from the contiguous United States and not by this administration as online bloggers will try to have you believe. Being so far away from Uncle Sam requires us to often look for ways to help ourselves economically. Am I a bad person for availing of the voucher? Call me an opportunist but I’d rather consider myself a survivalist.

I am a diabetic. It wasn’t by choice. I also know that one day I’ll probably be receiving hemodialysis as well. Being a former staunch supporter of Heinz Hofschneider, I know for a fact that he is not the individual pushing the attack on Gov. Eloy Inos’ condition as he too knows firsthand the hardships of what a patient faces. I also believe that Heinz would not approve of such knowing from experience, so I believe it is solely at the supporter level. I know Heinz knows that I am a capable individual aside from being a diabetic. I believe in my heart Heinz remembers my aunt (Mama Angie) who sat listening to him speak at my house during the 2005 elections who voted twice for him in two consecutive elections. For those unable to compute, that is a span of eight years. She lasted a total of 12 years undergoing dialysis treatment. If she could last, then why does everyone doubt Eloy Songao Inos who’s fairly new at this? I’m appalled at the fact we would stoop so low and bombard a person based on their ailment. Ti che’chu kilisyanu esta esti.

I now pose the question for all your readers. We’ve seen Eloy’s leadership this past year. He has faced many obstacles along the way, even while receiving treatment. He and his staff have overcome many obstacles in which we are now seeing such results. Although some of the stuff they faced didn’t pan out perfectly, the results served our community. Now we are going to go and buy the new pair of jeans on the shelf when we’ve already tried on our jeans that fit comfortably. I believe that is the fundamental reason the vote spread was that wide. People know what they’re getting rather than rolling the dice anew.

Ross Hugh Manglona
via email

[7
331,988,67,57
post-184984","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-letters-to-the-editor","tag-attack","tag-best-sunshine","tag-people","tag-united-states
["GET
