{"id":185232,"date":"2014-11-18T04:00:24","date_gmt":"2014-11-17T18:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=185232"},"modified":"2014-11-18T04:00:24","modified_gmt":"2014-11-17T18:00:24","slug":"dolphins-fail-repeat-rwdc-champion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dolphins-fail-repeat-rwdc-champion\/","title":{"rendered":"Dolphins fail to repeat as RWDC champion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Marianas High School\u2019s Aeronautical Dolphins failed to repeat as national champions in the Real World Design Challenge on Nov. 16 in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>According to Jeaniffer Cubangbang, instructional technology coordinator for the district who joined the CNMI group on the trip, the top three competitors this year were from New Hampshire, Vermont, and Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CNMI did a phenomenal performance in a highly competitive event,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Team members this year were Jill Ann Arada, Jessica Bigueras, Mobtasim Alam, Jun Young Kim, Regina Go, Roselie Agulto, and Esther Choi. Their coach was MHS teacher John Raulerson.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s challenge focused on the design and implementation of an unmanned aircraft system to support precision agriculture to monitor and assess crop conditions to achieve increased yield.<\/p>\n<p>For the national competition, the Dolphins brought their \u201cHawkEye 670.\u201d MHS won the RWDC Pacific Region title in the last three years.  Last year, they were the national champions.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the Dolphins won over other teams from the CNMI and Guam.
