The president of the Bud Light Guam Women\u2019s Tackle Football League will be visiting Saipan this weekend to support their team\u2019s friendly match against the CNMI Sharks and at the same time promote the sport to female players.<\/p>\n
BLGWTF president Linda Salas will be arriving on island along with the Guam delegation on Friday morning and she is expected to meet with Commonwealth Football League Association head John Blanco. The CNMI-Guam friendly match will be held on Saturday at 1:30pm at the CPA Airport Field.<\/p>\n
Salas said she will discuss will Blanco how to start a women\u2019s tackle football league on Saipan.<\/p>\n
In an email to Saipan Tribune, Salas said she\u2019s encouraging female players interested in tackle football to watch Saturday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will be on Saipan to promote our league and hopefully connect with a coach to start women\u2019s tackle football with a small team,\u201d said Salas. \u201cJohn will definitely be my point person with this venture.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added that once the CNMI has put up a team or organized a league, Guam squads could come to Saipan and play friendly matches. <\/p>\n
Besides Salas, other BLGWTFL officials are Paul Blas (vice president), Monica Sarusal (secretary), Marge Leon Guerrero (treasurer), Fred Tupaz (commissioner) and Frank Salas (disciplinary chair), while Angel Calugay will be coaching Team Guam, which scored a 20-0 win over the Sharks on May 4 last year, in this weekend\u2019s friendly match.
