{"id":185567,"date":"2014-11-21T04:00:35","date_gmt":"2014-11-20T18:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=185567"},"modified":"2014-11-21T04:00:35","modified_gmt":"2014-11-20T18:00:35","slug":"fresh-meat-now-available-garapan-public-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fresh-meat-now-available-garapan-public-market\/","title":{"rendered":"Fresh meat now available at Garapan Public Market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Marianas Meat Harvesting Co. has set up shop beside the Garapan Public Market. <\/p>\n<p>Isidoro Cabrera, secretary of the CNMI Farmer\u2019s Cooperative Association that runs the market, called it a \u201ca plus\u201d as customers will also have the option to buy meat when they visit the market.<\/p>\n<p>Company president Hong Kyun Kim said their company, which owns a slaughterhouse in Lower Base, will provide local and fresh beef, pork and soon, fish. He presented one butcher slicing a fresh slab of USDA-stamped beef.<\/p>\n<p>The store, adjacent to the market, will be also selling items like noni tea, coconut oil, noni soup, and coconut soup.<\/p>\n<p>Hong emphasized that his products are \u201call local\u201d and \u201call made in Saipan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The shop will be open Monday to Sunday from 2pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>Kim said he would like to be more involved with local agriculture. He said in January, he would like to invite farmers to see his slaughterhouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe really want to purchase from farmers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The meat company is renting its space from the market.
