Dolang Team ruled the 7th Annual Marianas Apnea Spearfishing Club Tournament held early this month in the waters off Saipan.<\/p>\n
The group that had three members in Dennis Pua and Joe and Luis Cepeda earned a total catch of 50.34 to beat seven other teams in the annual tournament. Dolang Team prevailed over Morita Asai, Greg Sasamoto, and Ton Tenorio\u2019s Bantalan Team, which collected only 46.46 lbs. Bantalan Team edged Team Kolbe, which tallied 34.18 lbs. Frank Villagomez and Jimber Marcelo were Team Kolber\u2019s members.<\/p>\n
Completing the list of entries in the Nov. 8 tournament were Tiger Team of Guo Liang, Cheng Sheng Qian, Mark Hapdei (30.50lbs); Trench Divers of Abraham Quitugua, Jr., J.R. Brel, and Joshua Villagomez (20.58lbs); Salty Boys\u2019 Manuel Degracia, David Lizama, and Roman Camacho (9.88lbs); MASC\u2019s Felix Sasamoto and Norman Camacho (5.20lbs); and The Things\u2019 Ton Robert, Dave Camacho, and Ton Manibusan (5.10lbs).<\/p>\n
Besides the total weight category, the tournament also held competitions in the heaviest single catch and rudder fish. Asai landed the heaviest rudder at 2.98lbs, while Liang got the heaviest single catch at 7.56lbs.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, MASC president Felix Sasamoto said next year\u2019s tournament will revert to its old schedule\u2014sometime in May.<\/p>\n
