{"id":186298,"date":"2014-12-02T04:00:47","date_gmt":"2014-12-01T18:00:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=186298"},"modified":"2014-12-02T04:00:47","modified_gmt":"2014-12-01T18:00:47","slug":"hli-18-12-ok-will-lead-adjustments-govt-units","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/hli-18-12-ok-will-lead-adjustments-govt-units\/","title":{"rendered":"HLI 18-12 OK will lead to \u2018adjustments\u2019 to other govt units"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The electorate\u2019s approval of House Legislative Initiative 18-12 during the general election last Nov. 4 will result in other government units having to adjust their annual earmarks, according to press secretary Angel Demapan.<\/p>\n<p>HLI 18-12, which increases the CNMI Public School System\u2019s 15 percent annual government appropriation by 10 percentage points, garnered 7,826 \u201cyes\u201d votes and 3,958 \u201cno\u201d votes in last month\u2019s polls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe administration will have to crunch the budget figures when it comes time to submit the budget proposal for the new fiscal year. Obviously, as is the case every fiscal year, any adjustment made to any business unit will result in further adjustments to other units. This will all depend on revenue projections for the next fiscal year,\u201d Demapan said in an email to Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>PSS\u2019 annual government appropriation will now be increased to 25 percent because the majority of votes favored the budget increase.<\/p>\n<p>Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A.
