The Northern Marianas College is urging community members to register for its free Workforce Development Training classes that are being offered as part of the Workforce Development Program aimed at assisting residents learn or sharpen workplace knowledge and skills.<\/p>\n
The funding for these courses are made possible from the CW fees that are appropriated to the Northern Marianas College.<\/p>\n
The courses include Introduction to Computers; Keyboarding; Fundamentals of the Internet and Email Usage; Introduction to Word Processing Applications; Introduction to Spreadsheet Applications; Creating Effective Digital Presentations; Workforce Ready: Personal and Professional Skills; Customer Service; Workplace Culture and Ethics; Communication in the Workplace; Time and Stress Management; and Getting the Job: Job Search\/R\u00e9sum\u00e9 Writing\/Job Interviewing Techniques.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese courses are designed to help residents transition into meaningful and sustainable careers or to help those who are already employed to acquire new skills or enhance existing ones,\u201d said David Attao, dean of Administration and Resource Development at NMC. \u201cWe are encouraging anyone who is looking for a job or who is looking to enhance their knowledge and skills to register as soon as possible since space is limited.\u201d<\/p>\n
Registration for the classes has begun; the last day to register is Friday, Dec. 5, 2014. Anyone who is interested in registering can visit the Community Development Institute in NMC\u2019s Building D or call 237-6764 or email wdp@marianas.edu.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe courses are provided at no charge to participants and will be taught by highly experienced and knowledgeable instructors,\u201d Attao added. \u201cIf you know anyone who can benefit from this training, please tell them about it.\u201d<\/p>\n
The classes will begin on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014. Orientation will also be on\u00a0Dec. 9, 2014, at 8:30am\u00a0in Building Q, Room 2.<\/p>\n
All classes will be held at various classrooms and computer labs at NMC\u2019s As Terlaje Campus.<\/p>\n
The Workforce Development Program is provided as part of NMC\u2019s workforce development initiative focusing on providing participants Lead into Future Experiences.<\/p>\n
