The CNMI Head Start program has maintained its funded enrollment requirement of 462 children as of last week, with average daily attendance at about 80 percent, according to program director Melissa Palacios in her report to the CNMI State Board of Education last week.<\/p>\n
The daily attendance requirement is 85 percent, according to Palacios. Most of the absences are due to illnesses like minor colds or fevers, she said.<\/p>\n
Head Start has also have recently completed their first child outcomes report and Parent Teacher conference have also taken place, Palacios told the board.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur family are very happy with the results [and] the progress that\u2019s been happening with their children,\u201d Palacios said. She added that the data would be shared with the board once finalized.<\/p>\n
The Head Start Policy Council was able to complete the election of their officers, according to Palacios. They are putting together their final roster to be shared with the board, she said.<\/p>\n
Their Early Childhood specialist conducted runs at program centers last week, according to Palacios, to evaluate certification in regards to environmental health and safety for Head Start children.<\/p>\n
With their one-time program improvement funds that they recently received for facility projects, Head Start announced that they are 80 percent complete with these projects, she said.<\/p>\n
The CIP Office assisted with inspection, she said, before payments were submitted to vendors<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very happy with our accomplishments,\u201d she told the board. Parents are also leading campus beautification projects doing the weekends, she said.<\/p>\n
Health screenings were continuing at the schools, she said. She invited the board to visit program centers and talk with staff, families, and children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
