(Jayson Camacho)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nThousands joined in once again as they did last Saturday for the weekly Christmas in the Marianas celebration, this time standing along Beach Road from Garapan Fishing Base to Paseo de Marianas waving to parade goers.<\/p>\n<p>The Christmas parade kicked off a quarter to 6pm with schools and floats heading down toward Garapan\u2019s tourist district.<\/p>\n<p>Among the parade participants were Koblerville Elementary School, Kagman Elementary School, Northern Marianas International School, Tanapag Junior High, San Antonio Junior High, Chacha Oceanview Junior High, Saipan Southern High School, Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Miss Marianas Teen Gianna Camacho, and the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Parade participants whistled and shouted out \u201cMerry Christmas\u201d to spectators. <\/p>\n<p>After the parade, the floats were then parked at Coral Tree Avenue for picture taking.<\/p>\n<p>Students taking part in the costume competition went on stage to show off their outfits, many of which used recycled materials and home products. <\/p>\n<p>Pacific Development Inc. director Gordon Marciano said the costumes were very creative. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have really talented students and very creative ones too. I myself would have never thought of these ideas,\u201d Marciano said.<\/p>\n<p>Students showcased Christmas costumes that showed a snowman, Santa Claus, candy canes, decorated ornaments, and many more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Healthy walking<\/strong><br \/>\nAbout 35 walkers joined the 5-kilometer walk this year that started as early as 4:30pm. Those who registered got a free shirt and water.
