A 21-year-old man was killed when he lost control of a black motorcycle he was riding and was thrown against a traffic sign pole along Isa Drive in San Vicente Wednesday afternoon, police said yesterday.<\/p>\n
Christopher Del Rosario suffered head injury, internal bleeding due to a ruptured spleen, and numerous contusions and lacerations.<\/p>\n
Department of Public Safety police spokesman Travis Hurst said Dr. Stephen Katz of the Commonwealth Health Center pronounced Del Rosario dead Wednesday at 9:19pm as a result of head injury.<\/p>\n
Del Rosario is the fourth fatality of a vehicular and motorcycle crash on Saipan and in the CNMI this year.<\/p>\n
Hurst said DPS Central Dispatch sent units to a motorcycle crash incident on Isa Drive Wednesday at 5:19pm. Upon arriving, police officers saw the victim lying next to a traffic sign pole and a black motorcycle north from him.<\/p>\n
The victim, who was later identified as Del Rosario, was taken to CHC, where he later succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n
Hurst said that, according to the investigation conducted by traffic officers, it was determined that Del Rosario lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from the vehicle.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis crash is currently under investigation,\u201d Hurst said.<\/p>\n
Last July 6, Arthur Sibetang, 61, was killed when a pickup truck he was driving reportedly ran off the roadway and slammed into a concrete barrier for a power pole along Flame Tree Road in Dandan. Investigators determined that alcohol was a factor to the crash.<\/p>\n
Last June 22, a woman and her unborn five-month-old baby were killed while three other occupants of a Toyota Sienna van were injured when the van they were riding crashed into a power pole along As Perdido Road.
