(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A nursing graduate of the Northern Marianas College has become one of the latest students to pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses on their first attempt. Yunjiao Bai, who graduated from NMC last May, took the exam in November.<\/p>\n<p>The NCLEX-RN tests an individual\u2019s nursing knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry level. The exam is used by nursing boards in all U.S. states and territories to award nursing licenses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely proud of Yunjiao\u2019s accomplishment,\u201d said NMC Nursing Department chairperson Rosa M. Tudela. \u201cI have no doubt that she will be an excellent nurse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI chose nursing because of Norman Bethune,\u201d said Bai. \u201cMy grandmother took me to the Medical University in China, where I learned about Norman Bethune and how he helped many Chinese people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told myself that I would work in a field that helps people of all backgrounds,\u201d Bai added. \u201cI passed because I studied hard every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just wanted to thank everyone who believed in me&#8211;my mother, my great instructors at NMC, my classmates, and my coworkers at Marianas Medical Center. They are a great support system and they continue to remind me that I can do it,\u201d Bai added.<\/p>\n<p>Asked what advice she would give other students who are preparing to take the NCLEX, Bai said, \u201cAs a constant reminder for your exam and as a motivation, change your wallpaper on your cellphone to the date and your name with \u2018RN\u2019 beside it. Study hard. A little anxiety doesn\u2019t hurt.
