Respicio, who will continue as its Majority Leader, expressed the need to cooperate with the executive and judicial branches of our government.

Senator Respicio said that he will personally work with the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, public auditor, mayors and vice-mayors and all his senatorial colleagues in order to achieve those initiatives which address the priority areas of our government.

“My hope is that the new Legislature will be respectful of Gov. Eddie Calvo’s mandate in the last election, but also mindful of our collective responsibility to provide a reasonable check and balance for the executive branch. I also recognize that the Judiciary remains an important element in maintaining the separation of powers between the branches of government.”

Senator Respicio is the chair of the agenda-setting Committee on Rules, Federal, Foreign & Micronesian Affairs, Human and Natural Resources, Election Reform and Capitol District, and he offered a preview of his own legislative plans as the legislative body moves forward.

“My focus will be on advancing all aspects of Guam’s relationship with the federal government, improving recycling programs, advancing the military buildup, and strengthening the health care system by reducing the time it takes for doctors and pharmacies to be paid by the government and health insurers,” Respicio said.

“I am looking forward to a very productive year with this new Legislature. I am grateful that the people of Guam have given me another opportunity to serve in this capacity as a senator, and affirm my commitment to working with all of Guam’s people.”

For more information, please contact Senator Respicio’s office at 472-7679. (PR)

As the 33rd Guam Legislature dawned with its inaugural ceremonies held in Hagatna Monday morning,…

[4
51,55,200,67
post-188713","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-guam","tag-health-2","tag-military","tag-people
["GET
