(Jon Perez)

The undefeated Eastern Lightning are heavily favored to defend their title in the Commonwealth Football League Association’s 2014 Youth Football League.

The Lightning, who swept all the four games they played in the regular season, take on the Southern Thunder at 1pm tomorrow at the CPA Airport Field. This weekend’s title game is a rematch of last year’s with the Lighting hoping for a repeat of their 37-0 rout of the Thunder during the revival of the youth league.

Quarterback Donavin Ada and Zander Tkel are the two main reasons the Eastern crew of head coach Dave Ada are on their way to another title sweep.

Ada has been a steady presence in dictating their offense, completing 17 of his 52 total passes for 395 yards, while also rushing for 217. He combined for 7 tackles on the defensive side.

Tkel supported Ada’s performance with a total of 568 rushing and 82 receiving yards and then completed 3 of 5 passes for 66 yards as a backup QB. He also had 16 tackles during the regular season.

The Lightning, behind Ada and Tkel, tallied per game averages of 37.8 points and 361 yards.

The Thunder, on the other hand, finished with a 2-2 record and play more of a spreadout offense with three players expected to lead the charge in their title drive.

Napu Atalig, Brent Azarcon, and N-Nes Siech combined for 560 yards in receiving, rushing, and passing for the Thunder.

Atalig rushed for 104 yards, Azarcon passed for 163 yards after going 5-of-10, while Siech had 152 receiving yards.

The Thunder are aiming for some payback after dropping both of their games against the Lightning, including a 32-0 thrashing last Dec. 20. Their two wins were against the Northern Vikings. (Jon Perez)

The undefeated Eastern Lightning are heavily favored to defend their title in the Commonwealth Football…

[5
1187
post-189087","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports","tag-cfl
["GET
