{"id":189154,"date":"2015-01-12T04:00:57","date_gmt":"2015-01-11T18:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=189154"},"modified":"2015-01-12T04:00:57","modified_gmt":"2015-01-11T18:00:57","slug":"woman-admits-using-ice-fails-appear-several-drug-testing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/woman-admits-using-ice-fails-appear-several-drug-testing\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman admits to using \u2018ice,\u2019 fails  to appear at several drug testing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman who is charged with lying to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and is on pre-trial release allegedly used methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d and failed to appear at several scheduled random drug testing.<\/p>\n<p>As this developed, attorney Michael N. Evangelista, court-appointed counsel for Evengelyn E.C. Jones, requested the U.S. District Court for the NMI on Friday to allow him to withdraw as attorney for Jones.<\/p>\n<p>Evangelista told the court last week that recent events have made it clear he can no longer serve as counsel for Jones, and that professional consideration require him to withdraw. He did not specify whether he was referring to Jones\u2019 alleged \u201cice\u201d use and failure to report for drug testing.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. Probation Officer Gregory F. Arriola stated in his declaration filed Thursday that Jones was arrested on an indictment charging her with one count of visa fraud and was released last Nov. 24 on a $5,000 unsecured bond.<\/p>\n<p>Arriola said during her release, Jones admitted to using \u201cice\u201d on Nov. 21 and 28, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Arriola said to assist with her addiction, Jones requested that her pre-trial release conditions be modified to include substance abuse treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona granted Jones\u2019 request last Dec. 15.<\/p>\n<p>Arriola said since the defendant\u2019s release on Nov. 24, she failed to appear for random drug testing on Dec. 16, 18, 20, 28, and 30, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Arriola said that, on Dec. 16 and 18, Jones informed the treatment vendor that she was unable to report to their office because she was sick.<\/p>\n<p>Arriola said Jones, however, failed to contact them on Dec. 20, 28, 30, and 31 to provide a reason for her absence.<\/p>\n<p>The probation officer said that last Jan. 5, the treatment vendor notified him that Jones failed to appear for random drug testing earlier that day.<\/p>\n<p>According to the indictment, on Sept. 16, 2010, Jones stated in a Form I-130 that an individual known as K.Y.O. was her \u201chusband\/wife\u201d\u2014a representation she knew was false in that she had divorced K.Y.O. in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Form I-130 refers to a U.S. citizen\u2019s petition for an alien relative.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woman who is charged with lying to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[93,1238,257],"class_list":["post-189154","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-district-court","tag-immigration-services","tag-nmi"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/189154","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=189154"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/189154\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=189154"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=189154"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=189154"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
