The Commonwealth Development Authority launched on Monday a \u201crotation curation account\u201d\u2014@wearecnmi\u2014on the photo and video-sharing platform Instagram. This, according to CDA\u2019s Carline Sablan, will allow a new host to represent the community by taking turns each week posting photos that \u201cfeature how we live, work and play in the CNMI.\u201d<\/p>\n
The inaugural host of @wearecnmi account is Shirley Sablan, executive vice president and general manager of Pacifica Insurance Underwriters Inc. She resides in Saipan.<\/p>\n
A post on the account has a video of Sablan\u2019s son playing in the waters of one of the Saipan\u2019s beaches. Posts also feature the smiling faces of the island\u2019s key businesses in the CNMI, shots of nature, and CNMI historic memorials.<\/p>\n
Carline Sablan said that CDA\u2019s objectives with the project are to document through photos and videos what life and life is in the CNMI. It is \u201cto encourage involvement, celebrate diversity, build community pride, increase reach and visibility of the CNMI as a place to say, visit and to businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe hope is that hosts will open up and share different aspects of life in the CNMI for followers from our community and across the world to see,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Three days into the project, the account already has accumulated 280-plus followers.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs CDA\u2019s first host,\u201d Shirley Sablan said. \u201cI had a huge task to increase @wearecnmi\u2019s followership, since I was pretty much starting from ground zero. Thus far, I love every minute of it. I encourage everyone eligible to sign up as hosts to provide different perspectives of our beautiful islands.\u201d<\/p>\n
CDA hopes to interest a diverse range of residents to serve as hosts.<\/p>\n
Eligibility requirements for hosts are, one, must be a CNMI resident; two, must have an existing Instagram account and be familiar with application; and three, must agree to the terms of use for the account.<\/p>\n
