Gov. Eloy S. Inos said he and Lt. Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres are eagerly awaiting the reports from their transition team so they can start reorganizing the government.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the past few weeks, my transition team has been hard at work examining every agency of your government.\u00a0 This was not available to me two years ago and Ralph and I wanted to ensure we had a complete overview of how your government operates.\u00a0 In the coming days the reports from my transition team will be completed\u2014these reports will help Ralph and I understand where our strengths and weaknesses are. After reviewing the reports, we will continue to build on our positives and strengthen our weak points,\u201d he said during his inauguration speech Monday at the Governor\u2019s Office parking lot.<\/p>\n
The Committee on Transition is led by chair Gregorio M. Camacho and is made up of a nine-person Transition Executive Committee made up of NMI Republican Party president James Ada as vice chairman and members Rufin S. Inos, Edward C. Deleon Guerrero, Esther S. Fleming, Mathilda A. Rosario, Rep. Angel A. Demapan (R-Saipan), and Torres brothers Vince, Victorino, and Joaquin.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow that we have received the mandate of the people to govern our islands, the continued task of improving government operations will begin anew. I make these pledges to you today! You will see a revitalized government that will serve all of the people. There will be more opportunities available to all the people in the CNMI in the coming months and years that will improve their lives,\u201d added the governor.<\/p>\n
Inos also asked the CNMI people\u2019s help as the government starts a new chapter in the islands\u2019 history.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will not happen overnight and we will have our victories here and there, but it will be a continuous challenge. I will be the first to say that the Executive Branch cannot fight this battle alone. We need to put the full weight of the CNMI behind everything we do. We must put aside our political and personal differences and come together as one if we are to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also said that over the next four years, his administration would continue to openly extend its hand to the Legislature and Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) for solutions to the issues affecting the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n
Ditto to the CNMI\u2019s friends in the Pacific region and the federal government.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough these two fronts and in unison, I believe that we will be successful.\u201d<\/p>\n
While saying that his new administration is a rejuvenated government ready to face the future and overcome any obstacle, he, however, assured everyone that he and Torres will operate the government absent of political division and strife.<\/p>\n
Inos also said his administration will look into streamlining the bureaucracy as much as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will continue to curtail or eliminate non-essential spending, reduce overtime, and examine programs and services to determine whether operational redundancy warrants elimination.
