(Roselyn B. Monroyo)

The Sonics’ much experienced and deeper bench proved to be too much for the young crew of Rollers 3, as the former never gave the latter any chance to keep up with them throughout the one-sided match.

The Omar Ajoste-coached Sonics pulled away early, taking a 48-15 halftime lead and used the remaining 20 minutes of play to work on their plays and exploit their height and heft advantage against Rollers 3.

With the Sonics dominating the winless Rollers 3, six players hit double figures for the winning squad. Jaymark De Guzman led the Sonics with his 18 points, while Jomar Manzano chipped in 11, and Jack Aranda, Bryle Alegre, Sean Rabasto, and Gerald Flores contributed 10 each.

Aaron Ogumoro had 11 points and was the lone double figure scorer for Rollers 3, which absorbed its fifth loss in as many games.

The Sonics improved their record to 3-2 for solo third place in the eight-team field behind the unbeaten Rollers 1 (4-0), Dream Team (3-1) and Ol’Aces (3-1). Kagman Risers (2-2), Rollers 2 (2-2), and Sun Palace (0-4) complete the division.

Rollers 1 was scheduled to meet the Ol’Aces in the second boys U19 division match last night and results of the game were unavailable at press time. Also set for last night was the women’s division pairing between the undefeated Armatech (6-0) and Shirley’s Coffee Shop (4-2).

Meanwhile, in last Tuesday’s women’s tiff, Kanoa Resort downed Sun Palace Hotel, 37-29.

Kanoa snapped a five-game losing skid and gained its second victory against the same team. Sun Palace is still winless in seven matches.

Kelsey Lizama top-scored for Kanoa with her 12 points and drew 8 markers each from Rose Jones and Jocelyn Lacay.
