The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. will soon be distributing its five-year strategic plan to all CNMI leaders and stakeholders to solicit their comments and feedback, according to chief executive officer Esther Mu\u00f1a.<\/p>\n
Although no date has been set yet, Mu\u00f1a said the plan will be ready for distribution early this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is one of our commitments to improving the standards of services to the people of the CNMI and to those who visit our beautiful islands,\u201d Mu\u00f1a said.<\/p>\n
CHCC has been developing the strategic plan for the years 2015 to 2020, with the help of the Pacific Island Health Officers Association, which was contracted by WestCare Pacific Islands to help with the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cDeveloping the strategic plan required the involvement of over a hundred staff, managers, community partners and volunteers in formulating the strengths and weaknesses to capture the desired outcomes for its varied health care systems on Saipan, Tinian and Rota,\u201d Mu\u00f1a said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the CNMI addresses its socio-economic challenges, including stimulating economic growth, expanding educational opportunities and improving capacity building of our local workforce, CHCC focuses on improving the overall health and well-being of the CNMI population,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
As a result of CHCC\u2019s strategic planning, the hospital now has a vision, values, and mission statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor decades the people who called the CNMI \u2018home\u2019 have travelled off-island, sometimes to foreign countries, spending thousands of dollars for health care. Leaving family behind to seek care for medical, behavioral health, and other conditions can be not only expensive and a financial strain on a family but the emotional support that helps to heal is often limited when a patient is off-island,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
One big goal that CHCC looks forward to for this year and the upcoming years is \u201caffordable and accessible care\u201d here.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe visualize a thriving and highly efficient system that is responsive and responsible in every aspect of the work we do in prevention, treatment and aftercare for all that come to our doors.
