Saipan Swim Club is bringing back its pentathlon meet this Saturday at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool.<\/p>\n
Last held in 2010, the tournament will start at 8:30am and will feature the club\u2019s swimmers in all age groups.<\/p>\n
In the 9 to 10 and 11 to 12 age groups, participants will race in the 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, and 200m individual medley. In the three other and older age divisions\u201413 to 14, 15 to 16, and 18-and-over, swimmers will compete in longer races, namely: 100m butterfly, 100m backstroke, 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle, and 200m IM.<\/p>\n
In the youngest age group\u2014the U8\u2014the events are 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, and 50m freestyle. Swimmers in the U18 division have the option to do only four events or add one more to complete the pentathlon.<\/p>\n
Besides the individual race, this weekend\u2019s 2014-2015 SSC Pentathlon Swim Meet will have two relay events\u2014the 4x50m medley relay for swimmers in the U12 age group and the 4x100m medley relay for the 13-and-over.<\/p>\n
This Saturday\u2019s competition will be SSC\u2019s first this year and will kick off the busy first two quarters for the club.<\/p>\n
Next month, SSC will have the Meek and Mighty Ocean Swim at the Pacific Islands Club on Feb. 7, while two events are lined up in March, starting off with the International Invitational Swim Meet (March 13 and 14) and ending with the Saipan Ocean Swim in the waters off World Resort.<\/p>\n
In April, SSC will hold the Escape from Managaha (April 11) and Swim Marathon (April 23), while in May, the club is scheduled to compete in three tournaments\u2014the NMISF\u2019s season-ending event on May 2, Guam\u2019s B\/C championships on May 16, and the Guam Swimming Federation Championships on May 29 and 30.<\/p>\n
For the remainder of the 2014-2015 season, SSC will have its series of open water swims in the summer, while some of the club\u2019s swimmers may be selected to compete in the World Championships in Kazan, Russia in July and 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea also in the same month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
