Francisco Borja (Ind-Tinian) was unanimously elected as Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation chairman during an organizational meeting Friday in his office at the Jesus P. Aldan (Ind-Tinian), and Borja himself\u2014voted for Borja.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thank all members for their support and confidence in me to be the chairman of this delegation. I also welcome our two new delegation members, Edwin Aldan and Jude Hofschneider. I know that you\u2019re not new to being legislators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borja enjoined all delegation members to cooperate with each other in advancing the interests of the Second Senatorial District.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s work together and let\u2019s work hard. We\u2019re faced with a lot of obstacles but with us working together, we\u2019ll have a faster and easier time to accomplish our roles for our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation chair also told Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas that the local delegation is ready to work with him.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Borja, also elected to the delegation leadership were Cruz as vice chair, Hofschneider as floor leader, and Aldan as legislative secretary.<\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas congratulated all the new officers of the delegation and vowed to work with them for the betterment of the people of Tinian.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor confirmed that he had a brief meeting with Joint Region Marianas commander Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar when she visited the island recently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was very short briefing on what has come until now and what their discussion were with the governor [Eloy S. Inos]. I told them as the mayor of Tinian I look forward to working with them. I look forward to engaging in some very serious discussions with representatives of the military. This is an ongoing process and I understand that there\u2019s an ad-hoc meeting coming up and a couple more meetings coming up and I look forward to that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas also introduced to Bolivar two of his advisers\u2014Eric San Nicolas and Phillip Mendiola-Long. Both will be assisting him with regards to military affairs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe didn&#8217;t get too much on specifics. It\u2019s my understanding that they\u2019re willing to sit down with us and help our community as we move forward.
