Saipan Swim Club\u2019s Lennosuke Suzuki and Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Nanaka Watanabe and Kyona Rivera ruled their respective divisions in the 2014-2015 SSC Pentathlon Swim Meet after sweeping their events.<\/p>\n

Suzuki topped the boys 11 to 12 age group as he collected 45 points for gaining first place finishes in the five races he competed in last Saturday at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool. Nine points were given to each first place finish, 7 to second, 6 to third, 5 to fourth, 4 to fifth, 3 to sixth, 2 to seventh, and one to eighth.<\/p>\n

The 11-year-old Suzuki got his first 9 points from the 50m butterfly event as he bested five other swimmers after clocking in at 36.63 seconds. Suzuki\u2019s other events were the 50m backstroke (39.08 seconds); 50m breaststroke (43.03 seconds), 50m freestyle (31.72 seconds), and 200m individual medley (2:57.92).<\/p>\n

The SSC bet defeated teammates Taiga Sato (32.5 points), Rinto Takahashi (29.5), and R.J. Pierce (21) and Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Nelson Batallones (26) and Jhota Yoshino (16) for the top honors in the boys 11 to 12 age group.<\/p>\n

In the girls 9 to 10 and 13 to 14, Watanabe and Rivera were the winners after gaining 45 points each.<\/p>\n

Watanabe prevailed in all five events to beat SSC\u2019s Coume Kaga (34), Jinie Thompson (28), and Ayaka Sato (17) and fellow Tsunami Saipan swimmers Natsuki Nagata (26) and Ayumi Obligacion (20). Watanabe swam in the 50m butterfly (45.10 seconds), 50m backstroke (45.06), 50m breaststroke (46.65), 50m freestyle (38.62), and 200m IM (3:24.15).<\/p>\n

In the girls 13 to 14, Rivera won her showdown against Tsunami Saipan teammate Katherine Illahi, sweeping all five events. The top finisher timed in at 1:33.29 in the 100m butterfly; 1:39.72 in the 100m backstroke; 1:39.11 in the 100m breaststroke; 1:20.08 in the 100m freestyle; and 3:13.36 in the 200m IM.<\/p>\n

In other results, Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Ashley Dangol and Hans Xu bagged the top honors in the U8 age group, Anthony Camacho-Deleon Guerrero prevailed in the boys 9 to 10, and Miku Tammy reigned in the girls 11 to 12, while SSC\u2019s Kento Akimaru ruled the boys 13 to 14 division.<\/p>\n

Dangol joined four events (50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, and 50m butterfly) and earned first place finishes in all events to get 36 points and down teammates Kana Suzuki (28) and Shaunalyn Babauta (24). Xu placed first in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, and 50m breaststroke and runner-up in the 50m butterfly for 36 points to edge fellow Tsunami Saipan bets Isaiah Aleksenko (30), Aasish Dangol (23), and SSC\u2019s Dino Sato (21). Swimmers in the U8 age group had the option to join 4 or 5 events.<\/p>\n

In the boys 9 to 10, Camacho-Deleon Guerrero had a neck-and-neck battle for first place against SSC\u2019s Jinnozuke Suzuki with the former gaining 39 points against the latter\u2019s 38. Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Juhn Tenorio rounded out the Top 3 with his 31 points and was followed by SSC\u2019s Rintaro Miyawaki (26), Taiyo Akimaru (21), Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Kenta Tomie (11), SSC\u2019s Akira Kadokura (11), and Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Rentaro Suzuki (8).<\/p>\n

In the girls 11 to 12, Tammy finished six points ahead of Tsunami Saipan teammate Sophia Gauran, 43-37. Aika Watanabe made it a 1-2-3 finish for Tsunami Saipan after getting 30 points and beating SSC\u2019s Conatsu Kaga (25), Jin Ju Thompson (20), and Jasmin Frink (15).<\/p>\n

The host club duplicated Tsunami Saipan\u2019s feat in the boys 13 to 14 age group with Kento Akimaru leading the field with his 43 points and beating teammates Christian Villacrusis (37) and David Boyer (27). Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Mark Mestro collected 23 points to settle for fourth place.<\/p>\n

In the three other age groups, Tsunami Saipan and 15 to 16\u2019s Angel De Jesus and Kaito Yanai were left unchallenged, while Daime Rivera was also the lone entry in the girls over 17 division.<\/p>\n
