A large bush fire burned about 10 to 15 acres of vegetation on a mountain in Kannat Tabla, forcing at least five families to evacuate their homes on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

No one was reported injured or received any medical calls related to the wildfire, according to Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Jocelyn Alvarez yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cause of the fire is still under investigation,\u201d Alvarez said.<\/p>\n

Motorists on Beach Road and Chalan Pale Arnold could clearly view the raging fire on the mountain. Starting at 8pm, debris from the fire started falling on many villages.<\/p>\n

The Department of Public Safety and the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services received a call about the wildfire on Sunday at 6:22pm. It eventually died out at 11:54pm.<\/p>\n

Alvarez said multiple units were dispatched but they were unable to directly access the fire due to rough terrain and no available entry routes for the fire trucks.<\/p>\n

Alvarez said a primary survey of the fire was conducted and, as a precaution due to high winds and direction the fire travelled, some residents in the area were advised to evacuate their homes at 7:30pm.<\/p>\n

The affected residents were allowed to return to their homes at 11:40pm after it was determined that the fire no longer posed an immediate threat to homes in the area.<\/p>\n
