Chavez, Mary Rose S. Lucero, and Edward C. Maratita Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Showing a true dedication to Catholic education, Florinda Chavez is the longest tenured teacher.  Chavez served the only Catholic school on Rota for more than 20 years, serving five school administrators.<br \/>\nAs if serving the school is not enough, Chavez helps the church as Sunday reader, for special occasion Masses, and the First Holy communicants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cESFDB recognizes professional individuals that are ambassadors of Catholic education. It\u2019s because of the service and dedication of all our teachers, staff and administration that our students have ample opportunity to love, learn, and live their faith in service to others in all aspects of their life,\u201d said administrator\/principal Carmen H. Atalig.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeachers are the backbone of our Catholic educational system, providing day to day instruction in faith and academics. The excellence that these teachers display is an inspiration to all of us who work in Catholic education,\u201d said teacher and board chair Edward C. Maratita Jr.  \u201cAlso, teachers often work hard and in silence, we hope that these awards honor our teachers who are doing really important work, whose stories haven\u2019t been shared.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The teachers were recognized for their years of service to Catholic education; superior ability to foster excellence in education and contribute to the continuous improvement of student learning and the school environment; knowledge of the subject taught and the ability to effectively use materials relating to the subject; leadership in educational activities at the school; use of original or innovative instructional methods such as cooperative learning and interdisciplinary instruction; and the use of technology in instruction.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the teachers have a record of superior teaching as evidenced by student performance, honors, awards or other kinds of recognition; continued professional development as evidenced by participation in workshops, in-service training, conference, and\/or advanced degrees; demonstration of exemplary interpersonal skills in communicating with students, parents and the community and in collaboration with other professionals; strong commitment to creating a climate of caring and respect conducive to effective teaching and learning; and strong commitment to creating a Catholic climate of caring and respect through effective teaching as Jesus taught.<\/p>\n<p>The faculty would like to express their appreciation to Carmen H. Atalig, Rev. Fr. Charlie Borja, Monsignor Louis Antonelli, Sen. Teresita Santos (R-Rota), and 15th Rota Municipal Council.
