Lt. Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres led the proclamation of \u201cWorld Marriage Day\u201d on Capital Hill on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Members and leaders of the CNMI Worldwide Marriage Encounter and Fr. Isaac Masga Ayuyu attended the proclamation signing.<\/p>\n

\nWorld Marriage Day honors the husband and wife as heads of the family, the basic unit of society, the group said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWorld Marriage Day is held every year on the second Sunday in February. For this year, World Marriage Day is on Feb. 8, 2015,\u201d the group added in a statement.<\/p>\n

The M.E. group is inviting couples in the CNMI to join its community.<\/p>\n

In a message, Torres emphasized the importance of marriage for CNMI residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarriage is not easy. It takes hard work, but in looking at the way my parents raised us, and looking at my own children, it is worth it,\u201d the official said. \u201cRaising children is one of the toughest and most rewarding things we will do in our lives. I am grateful to have my wife, Diann, to be my partner in this amazing journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn recognizing the importance of marriage, we must celebrate the love that bonds a union, but also, and maybe more importantly, we must recognize the sacrifice and understanding that is necessary to make it work,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to all the married couples in the CNMI for continuing to make it work. Stay strong and remember to love one another,” he said.<\/p>\n
