Marianas High School clinched the top seed after going undefeated in the varsity division of the Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization Girls Volleyball League, which ended its season last week.<\/p>\n

Marianas High School remains the team to beat when the 2014-2015 season of the Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization Girls Volleyball League holds its finals this weekend at the MHS Gymnasium. (Jon Perez)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Lady Dolphins swept all of its 10 games and did not drop a set since debuting with back-to-back victories against 2013 titlists Grace Christian Academy Lady Eagles and the Mt. Carmel School Lady Knights on Jan. 8.<\/p>\n

The reigning champs bounced back from an opening-set loss in its title showdown against GCA and dethroned the then defending titlists, 24-26, 25-20, 18-16.<\/p>\n

GCA came in second with an 8-2 card with its two losses against MHS and MCS this season.<\/p>\n

Saipan International School and MCS ended up with identical 5-5 slates to end up tied for third, but the former secured the No. 3 seeding in this weekend\u2019s final tournament based on the number of sets won.<\/p>\n

SIS varsity won 73.7 percent of the sets they played or 14 out of 19, while MCS came up with 63.2 percent or 12-of-19.<\/p>\n

Kagman High School finished fifth at 2-8 with two of its wins against winless Saipan Southern High School.<\/p>\n

SSHS\u2019 junior varsity squad, meanwhile, topped the junior varsity standings after beating MHS JV in the tiebreak. Both teams ended up with 6-2 slates but Southern had won the most number of sets with 69.6 percent (16-of-23) compared to MHS\u2019 65 percent (13-of-20).<\/p>\n

MCS JV came in third with a 5-3 card followed by SIS JV\u2019s even 4-4 record, while Kagman JV had only one win in its eight games to complete the standings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
