{"id":19135,"date":"2011-09-28T02:28:58","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T02:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=19135"},"modified":"2011-09-28T02:28:58","modified_gmt":"2011-09-28T02:28:58","slug":"witness-says-cepeda-had-laughed-about-killing-victim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/witness-says-cepeda-had-laughed-about-killing-victim\/","title":{"rendered":"Witness says Cepeda had laughed about killing victim"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>Testifying yesterday in the retrial of Franklin Cabrera Cepeda Jr. for the killing of a businessman in 1999, a co-defendant said that they had laughed after the incident, with Cepeda saying he just \u201cgot his payday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>George Ilo narrated to the court how he and Cepeda entered Yellow House Karaoke in San Jose, then robbed and killed Rong Matthew Zhou on March 1, 1999. Ilo has already pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal.<\/p>\n<p>Ilo said that, as they left the establishment aboard a car, he told Cepeda that Zhou was dead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Cepeda] said that&#8217;s good because he got his payday,\u201d said Ilo during direct examination by assistant attorney general Peter Prestley.<\/p>\n<p>Ilo said they were laughing in the car about what had happened.<\/p>\n<p>When Ilo asked Cepeda if he saw some Chinese girls running away and screaming during the incident, Cepeda allegedly replied: \u201cIt&#8217;s good they ran or they could die also.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ilo said he had the knife while Cepeda was armed with a baseball bat when they entered Yellow House Karaoke.
