{"id":192134,"date":"2015-02-19T04:00:36","date_gmt":"2015-02-18T18:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=192134"},"modified":"2015-02-19T04:00:36","modified_gmt":"2015-02-18T18:00:36","slug":"chcc-submit-business-plan-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/chcc-submit-business-plan-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"CHCC to submit business plan \u2018soon\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. is being asked to present a business plan that will hopefully shed more light on the corporation\u2019s status.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_192140\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-192140\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a attid=\"192140\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Esther-Muna-mug1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Esther-Muna-mug1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Muna\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-192140\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-192140\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Muna<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After a lengthy meeting with lawmakers on Capital Hill on Wednesday, CHCC chief executive officer Esther Mu\u00f1a promised to send them the business plan \u201csoon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mu\u00f1a said the business plan \u201cis already there and only needs a review\u201d and further comments before she sends it to the lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>Mu\u00f1a did not give an exact date as to when she plans to turn over the business plan.<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers summoned Mu\u00f1a and other key executives to Capital Hill for a joint meeting on health care.<\/p>\n<p>There were discussions on the status of health centers on Rota and Tinian, but the questions from lawmakers centered on the financial status of CHCC and its proposed plans to bail itself out of its financial woes.<\/p>\n<p>The CHCC was established in 2011, and based on an audit report for fiscal year 2012, still \u201cneeds to strengthen its financial reporting.\u201d The audit report also recommended that the CHCC come up with a business plan.<\/p>\n<p>The business plan is widely expected to contain how CHCC will address most, if not all, questions regarding its financial and management plans.<\/p>\n<p>Mu\u00f1a said that despite its financial difficulties, the CHCC cannot just shut down its hospitals and health centers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main concern really is funding,\u201d the executive said, emphasizing that with more support, the CHCC can finally be \u201cin the black\u201d after operating at a loss for years.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Teresita A.
