(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Tan Siu Lin Foundation and the Northern Marianas College recently announced the recipients of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation Scholarship Program. From a highly competitive selection process, the following students were selected:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Alegre, Roy Luie Alidon<br \/>\n\u2022 Quitugua, Peachy Josifynn<br \/>\n\u2022 Reyes, Rachel Ashley P.<br \/>\n\u2022 Teodoro, Lean Dizon<br \/>\n\u2022 Agustines, Nikkael Mendoza<br \/>\n\u2022 Santos, Elvielynn Cepeda<br \/>\n\u2022 Santos, Jeromalyn Wanphen<br \/>\n\u2022 Aldan, Mayleen Rose Tudela<br \/>\n\u2022 Santos, Joshua Cabrera<br \/>\n\u2022 Che, Jasmine Padiernos<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship program is part of the Tan Siu Lin Foundation\u2019s ongoing efforts to promote higher education among CNMI students. The program awards $1,000 per scholarship to students majoring in hospitality management, business, liberal arts, nursing, natural resources management, criminal justice, and education.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recognize the central role that the Northern Marianas College plays in the personal and professional development of CNMI students\u2014and on a larger scale\u2014the CNMI\u2019s workforce,\u201d said Tan Holdings president Jerry Tan. \u201cWe want to support that role by providing financial assistance to students who have the potential to excel academically and professionally.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Tan Holdings Foundation was formed in 2002 and was renamed after the company\u2019s founder and chairman, Dr. Tan Siu Lin. Through the years, the Tan Siu Lin Foundation has launched initiatives and built trusted partnerships with a diverse array of individuals, families, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. The TSL Foundation\u2019s main mission is to better serve the regions where it operates to make such communities a better place to live.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very grateful to the Tan Siu Lin Foundation for once again providing this scholarship,\u201d said NMC president Dr. Sharon Y. Hart. \u201cThe financial assistance will definitely make a significant impact in helping students pursue their educational goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The scholarships are based on merit and are awarded on the basis of the candidate\u2019s community involvement, academic background, and letters of recommendation.
