Palm Resorts is being \u201ccleaned out\u201d for renovation work, ahead of a groundbreaking ceremony they aim to have next month, according to E Land Micronesian Resort senior hotel operations manager Dennis Seo yesterday.<\/p>\n
The reopening of the Palms Resort would add a reported 313 rooms to a recovering tourism industry that\u2019s expected to need more rooms for looming casino and hotel investments and growing Chinese and Korean markets.<\/p>\n
In an interview, Seo confirmed that a completion date for the Palms renovation is still set for October this year.<\/p>\n
He told Saipan Tribune that right now the ongoing work is \u201cjust cleaning work,\u201d as they \u201cget ready for renovation.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just pulling out all the furniture\u2026the fixtures from the rooms, restrooms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still targeting reopening by October this year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
It was earlier reported that the budget for the renovation was from $20 million to $30 million.<\/p>\n
E Land\u2019s Construction Company will reportedly lead the renovation, with the help of local construction companies as subcontractors.<\/p>\n
