Latte Training Academy graduated 63 young adults poised to enter the CNMI\u2019s vital tourism industry on Tuesday night at the Pacific Islands Club.<\/p>\n

The 63 graduates are seniors from Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School, and Kagman High School. They earned their certification from the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute\u2019s START program, which is recognized in hospitality and tourism industries the world over.<\/p>\n

Island Training Solutions president Jim Arenovski said these students \u201cwent above and beyond their peers\u201d by taking the course.<\/p>\n

He said the training taught the students good attitude and enthusiasm, which is \u201cthe gold standard for the tourist industry,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

With the CNMI\u2019s growing human resource needs, he said the academy is firm in its belief that the time of this program had come.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe laughed. We cried. We had fun and worked hard,\u201d SSHS instructor Kanae Quinn told her students. \u201cI\u2019m proud of everyone in the class because we had grit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Students were taught in class and also shadowed positions in the hotel industry\u2014from cooks, to office or rooms work, among others.<\/p>\n

Fiesta Resort and Spa, Laolao Bay Resort, Pacific Islands Club, Saipan World Resort, Mariana Resort and Spa, and Hyatt Regency Saipan took part in the program.<\/p>\n

Arenovski said they are hoping to have more hotels on board for their next class.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
