{"id":193074,"date":"2015-03-04T04:00:48","date_gmt":"2015-03-03T18:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=193074"},"modified":"2015-03-04T04:00:48","modified_gmt":"2015-03-03T18:00:48","slug":"cip-tinian-mayor-ink-renovation-contracts-dps-health-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cip-tinian-mayor-ink-renovation-contracts-dps-health-center\/","title":{"rendered":"CIP, Tinian mayor ink renovation contracts for DPS, health center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas met with Capital Improvement Projects executives and signed off on a contract funding for renovation of the Department of Public Safety and Tinian Health Center buildings.<\/p>\n<p>San Nicolas signed a $318,785 contract for the DPS renovation and a $75,000 contract for THC.<\/p>\n<p>He said renovation work will begin as soon as the contracts are signed by the Office of Procurement and Supply, Department of Finance, and Commonwealth Development Authority.<\/p>\n<p>The renovation for DPS includes internal and externals renovations to its headquarters in San Jose, Tinian. Funds for that is through bond interest money from Public Law 17-8, which allows the Tinian Legislative Delegation to tap into the local license fees collected from pachinko slot machines and poker fees in the second senatorial district (Tinian).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDPS is in need of renovation because of its existing structure that is already getting old,\u201d San Nicolas said in an earlier interview.<\/p>\n<p>For the Tinian Health Center, the contractor has to fix the canopy of the director\u2019s office that is located at the former Public Health Clinic entrance at THC.<\/p>\n<p>Architectural and engineering analysis of THC has been completed. This analysis examined the current layout of the health center and changes that should be made to accommodate long-term needs.<\/p>\n<p>Immediate repairs to the roofing system, American\u2019s with Disabilities Act compliance in at least one bathroom, and other improvements will be addressed.
