Marianas High School\u2019s Pep Band, Chorale, and Rhythm \u2018N Harmony all did great in their performances for the 2015 Tumon Bay Music Festival, according to Marianas High School teacher Harold Easton.<\/p>\n
More than 40 students from the CNMI are taking part in this year\u2019s festival, which started on March 7 and will end tomorrow, March 14.<\/p>\n
Under the direction of Ruthie Fruit, MHS Chorale had five of their solo and ensemble entries selected for the March 11 Command Performances following their adjudication in the Tumon Bay Music Festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, based on their Saturday performances, John Huevos, Roland Balajadia, and Miguel Aninon were among the few selected to participate in the vocal master. Their director noted how proud she was of MHS Chorale\u2019s accomplishments, along with all the MHS students and faculty at the festival,\u201d Easton said.<\/p>\n
MHS Pep Band performed on March 8 at the Micronesian Mall, \u201cbringing the house down with their performance of Shake it Off featuring Leonard Manuel from the MHS\u2019s Rhythm \u2018N Harmony,\u201d Easton said.<\/p>\n
The Pep Band performed five selections to an enthusiastic audience as part of the \u201cpops concert\u2014jazz, rock, and beyond\u201d portion of the music festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Pep Band members were quoted as saying how much they enjoyed the opportunity to play and meet fellow musicians in Guam,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
For Rhythm \u2018N Harmony under the direction of Paul Dujua, the MHS Glee Club began its week with exchange program visits and successful performances at Liguan Elementary School where they were greeted by 200 fourth and fifth grade students.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was followed by a meeting with the Liguan E.S. Gates Honor Choir under the direction of Marc LaPlante and featured an exchange of performances by the two groups,\u201d Easton said.<\/p>\n
They also performed at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School and Simon Sanchez High School.<\/p>\n
Rhythm \u2018N Harmony\u2019s performance is set for today, Friday, March 13, at the Kahida Guam Plaza Hotel and tomorrow, March 14, during the awarding ceremonies, together with the Festival Massed Choir. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
