The FOA will be sponsoring three special concerts this weekend with Rudnytsky\u2014a rare opportunity to listen to classical music, played by an internationally renowned pianist.<\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky will be playing in concert this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (March 20, 22, and 23) at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center. All programs are open to the public at the cost of $10 for adults and $5 for students. Half of the proceeds will be presented to the CNMI\u2019s Thespians of the Western Pacific Islands scholarship program.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_194224\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-194224\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Roman-Rudnytsky-mug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-194224\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Roman-Rudnytsky-mug-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Rudnytsky\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-194224\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rudnytsky<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The March 29 program will include selections from such classical masters as Chopin, Clementi, Grieg, Beethoven, Debussy, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and other musical greats. Each concert will have different selections of music. The award-winning Marianas High School glee club, Rhythm \u2018N Harmony, will open the Friday and Sunday programs.<\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky is an internationally active concert pianist of Ukrainian background whose frequent performances take him all over the world\u2014to every continent and places in between.\u00a0 In addition to performances in capital cities and important musical centers, he often plays in places away from the musical mainstream, bringing the world and pleasure of classical music to audiences that seldom experience this type of music in live performance. He has received much acclaim in the world\u2019s press and many repeat invitations.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of the famous Julliard School in New York, he also did additional studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and at master classes in Austria (the \u201cMozarteum\u201d) and Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1972, Rudnytsky has been a member of the piano faculty of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. He is a recipient of that institution\u2019s Distinguished Professor Award in recognition of his concert activities. He previously served on the piano faculties of the Indiana University School of Music (Bloomington, Indiana) and the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory, in addition to being Artist-in-Residence at two Australian universities.<\/p>\n<p>During his two week visit to Saipan, he will traveled to many of the CNMI schools, playing\u00a0and discussing music with the students. This is Rudnytsky\u2019s sixth trip to the CNMI. He travels at his own expense and donates his time to the community.
