Lawmakers continue to conduct cleanup activities in and around their respective precincts, days after Tropical Storm Bavi whipped the CNMI over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Reps. Edwin K. Propst (Ind-Saipan) and Roman Benavente (Ind-Saipan) and their supporters are taking a hands-on approach in the continuing cleanup drives.<\/p>\n
Propst said his community workers are working with Benavente\u2019s community workers to collect scattered garbage.<\/p>\n
Works on road clearing and removal of fallen trees continue, according to Propst.<\/p>\n
The lawmaker, however, said for the clearing of fallen trees, government agencies such as the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. and Department of Public Work have been working \u201caround the clock\u201d to help in the cleanup.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a tropical storm, but the gust of winds was surprising,\u201d Propst said, particularly in his community in Dandan,<\/p>\n
As of Wednesday, power and water services \u201care not yet 100 percent,\u201d the lawmaker said.<\/p>\n
Propst said that CUC is moving \u201cas fast as they can,\u201d despite the fact that the agencies are \u201climited in the number of line crew and equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n
