{"id":194938,"date":"2015-03-27T04:00:10","date_gmt":"2015-03-26T18:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=194938"},"modified":"2015-03-27T04:00:10","modified_gmt":"2015-03-26T18:00:10","slug":"call-for-papers-for-3rd-marianas-history-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/call-for-papers-for-3rd-marianas-history-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for papers for 3rd Marianas History Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council continues its call for papers for the 3rd Marianas History Conference, \u201cOne Archipelago, Many Stories,\u201d which will be held on Saipan on Sept. 4-6.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will cover a full range of topics associated with the archipelago\u2019s history with a particular focus on the conference subtheme, \u201cMilestones in Marianas History.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Research papers may be submitted under the following categories: Ancient History; Early Colonial History; Late Colonial History; World War II; Recent (post-war); and Oral History and Genealogy.<\/p>\n<p>Paper abstracts with a maximum of 150 words and the presenter\u2019s bio may be submitted online via a link in the council\u2019s website at www.northernmarianashumanities.org.<\/p>\n<p>The submission deadline for abstracts is April 30, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Conference presenters will be allotted 20 minutes to present their papers and an additional 10 minutes for questions and discussion.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s conference, to be held at the Saipan World Resort, will feature keynote presentations by Dr. Miguel Vilar, James Viernes, and Jessica Jordan.<\/p>\n<p>Principal conference sponsors include the University of Guam, the Guam Preservation Trust, and the Northern Marianas Humanities Council.
