Members of the Senate intend to meet with key Cabinet heads and find out the departments\u2019 respective plans.<\/p>\n
At the regular Senate session on Thursday, Sen. Justo Quitugua (Ind-Saipan) brought the topic to the floor that was then supported by his colleagues.<\/p>\n
Quitugua said the proposed meeting is intended for lawmakers to meet the department heads and discuss plans.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it is time to have a face-to-face discussions with them,\u201d Quitugua said, adding that the senators do not mean to conduct an \u201coversight hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is just for us to know what the department heads are planning to do in the next four years or if they have new plans,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Quitugua said lawmakers will also share with the department heads the community\u2019s concerns.<\/p>\n
\u201cCommunity members do no go to the departments to express their concerns. They come to us and tell us all of these things,\u201d Quitugua said. \u201cNow that we know these concerns, we want to relay these concerns to the departments.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sen. Arnold I. Palacios (R-Saipan) supports Quitugua\u2019s call, adding that the meeting will be \u201cvery relevant.\u201d<\/p>\n
Quitugua added that some of the senators \u201cbarely know\u201d the heads of these departments.<\/p>\n
The heads of the departments of Public Land, Finance, Public Safety, and Community and Cultural Affairs will be invited to the proposed meeting.<\/p>\n
All of these Cabinet heads have been re-appointed by Gov. Eloy S. Inos to serve another four years.<\/p>\n
Senate President Victor B. Hocog (Ind-Rota) said his office will send notices to the department heads for the meeting. No schedule was discussed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
