Gov. Eloy S. Inos is urging communities to continue to do their part in protecting the CNMI\u2019s environment.<\/p>\n

During a ceremony proclaiming April as Environmental Awareness Month on Wednesday, Inos said everyone in the CNMI should do his or her part to protect the islands\u2019 natural resources.<\/p>\n

Speaking in front of members of the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Resources and supporters on Capital Hill, Inos said one of the measures that should be supported is the minimal use of plastic bags.

Plastic bags are one of the most common pollutants on the island and elsewhere.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s support existing beautification programs and support this measures,\u201d Inos said, after signing the proclamation.<\/p>\n

A legislation introduced by Rep. Vinson Sablan (Ind-Saipan) seeks to minimize the use of plastic bags, among others, to reduce wastes in the CNMI.<\/p>\n

Inos, wearing a BECQ cap in a gesture to support Environmental Awareness Month, also said, \u201cWe must do our share to keep the CNMI clean.\u201d<\/p>\n
