{"id":195541,"date":"2015-04-03T04:00:13","date_gmt":"2015-04-02T18:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=195541"},"modified":"2015-04-03T04:00:13","modified_gmt":"2015-04-02T18:00:13","slug":"dive-shop-settles-ex-employees-suit-for-10k","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dive-shop-settles-ex-employees-suit-for-10k\/","title":{"rendered":"Dive shop settles ex-employee\u2019s suit for $10K"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A diving tour shop has agreed to pay $10,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by its former employee, who alleged that the company did not pay him overtime and the hourly minimum wage.<\/p>\n<p>Following the settlement agreement, plaintiff JSM Maras on Wednesday filed in the U.S. District Court for the NMI a notice of his intent to dismiss his lawsuit against Galaxy Company Ltd., which owns the DPIS-Divers Paradise on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona dismissed the case on Wednesday but retained jurisdiction to enforce the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Stephen Nutting, counsel for Maras, stated that the parties have reached a settlement, precluding the need for Galaxy Company to respond to the court action.<\/p>\n<p>The signatories in the settlement agreement were Nutting and Maras, and attorney S.
