{"id":198808,"date":"2015-04-10T04:00:01","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T18:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=198808"},"modified":"2015-04-10T04:00:01","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T18:00:01","slug":"cops-civilian-rescue-5-stranded-swimmers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cops-civilian-rescue-5-stranded-swimmers\/","title":{"rendered":"Cops, civilian rescue 5 stranded swimmers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police officers and a civilian safely rescued five Korean swimmers who were stranded outside the reef of the Sugar Dock channel last Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong said yesterday that medics responded to the scene and examined the victims.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said the victims\u2014three men and two women with ages 27 to 35\u2014were not injured.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said that police were dispatched to Sugar Dock last Friday at 10:37am, in response to a report of a group of swimmers who\u2019ve been stranded.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer arrived at the Big Boyz beach concession stand and borrowed a jet ski, while DPS Boating Safety officers prepared to launch the Zodiac II rescue boat.<\/p>\n<p>At 10:41am, police officer Emery Kaipat located the swimmers outside the reef and saw three men and two women who appeared exhausted and were holding on to rubber tubes.<\/p>\n<p>Kaipat rescued two swimmers on the jetski, while a certain Obaydul, a Bangladeshi employee of Island Marine Sports, also picked up another swimmer on his jet ski.<\/p>\n<p>Boating Safety officer Stanley Patris and police officer Adrian Mendiola borrowed two jet skis and rescued the remaining two swimmers.<\/p>\n<p>All five swimmers were brought to shore, where medics from the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services waited and subsequently examined them. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police officers and a civilian safely rescued five Korean swimmers who were stranded outside the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[3684,3685,3686,685],"class_list":["post-198808","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-big-boyz","tag-emery-kaipat","tag-stanley-patris","tag-sugar-dock"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/198808","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=198808"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/198808\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=198808"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=198808"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=198808"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
