{"id":198850,"date":"2015-04-10T04:00:39","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T18:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=198850"},"modified":"2015-04-10T04:00:39","modified_gmt":"2015-04-09T18:00:39","slug":"mcdonalds-to-donate-portion-of-sales-to-maysak-relief-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/mcdonalds-to-donate-portion-of-sales-to-maysak-relief-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"McDonald\u2019s to donate portion of sales to Maysak relief drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an effort to help the victims of Typhoon Maysak, McDonald\u2019s of Saipan will be hosting a \u201cRelief Effort Fund Drive\u201d on April 11 to April 12, Saturday and Sunday. During these days, McDonald\u2019s will be donating a percentage of their sales to the CNMI-FSM Typhoon Maysak Relief Drive.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald\u2019s will also be accepting donations of non-perishable items (clothing, towels, tents) or food items such as rice, canned goods, and bottled water from today until Tuesday, April 14. With the help of several businesses, a free shipping container has been donated to the Relief Committee. The shipping container will be parked at the McDonald\u2019s Middle Road location and at the Garapan Fishing Base, where community members would be able to drop off any items they wish to donate.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_198851\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-198851\" style=\"width: 178px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a attid=\"198851\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Marcia-Ayuyu-2-mug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/Marcia-Ayuyu-2-mug-178x300.jpg\" alt=\"Marcia Ayuyu\" width=\"178\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-198851\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-198851\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marcia Ayuyu<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>When asked why McDonald\u2019s has decided to donate to this cause, Marcia Ayuyu said, \u201cMcDonald\u2019s always tries to find ways to help in any way we can. We recognize that many of our customers come from neighboring islands including Yap and Chuuk. This is our way of giving it back to them when they really need it the most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As a member of the CNMI-FSM Typhoon Maysak Relief Committee and a native of Chuuk, Ayuyu said she is very grateful for the support of several business partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn particular, we would like to thank Matson, Kyowa, Saipan Shipping, CTSI Logistics, Commonwealth Ports Authority, and Saipan Stevedore for providing us with a free container and for waiving the shipping fees. CTSI provided trucking services for the containers. CPA waived the wharfage fees and Saipan Stevedore waived the handling fees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ayuyu will also be joining the relief efforts this Saturday at the Garapan Fishing Base for Chuuk and the Kilili Pavilion in Susupe for the islands of Yap.<\/p>\n<p>For more information or to donate to the Relief Drive, contact McDonald\u2019s Middle Road at 235-8577 or McDonald\u2019s Garapan at 233-8577.
