Police arrested on Friday a male teenager who allegedly assaulted several persons, including a minor and a nurse at the Commonwealth Health Center.<\/p>\n
Police served 18-year-old Cling Phillip Gilbert Kaipat with an arrest warrant for assault and battery, domestic violence, and disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n
Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho retained the $10,000 cash bail the court earlier imposed on him.<\/p>\n
Preliminary hearing will be on April 22 at 9am. Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig was appointed as counsel for the suspect.<\/p>\n
Police detective Jesus K. Wabol stated in his report that a police officer responded to a call about an assault and battery incident at a residence behind Oleai Store last April 6 at 9:55pm. The officer met with a man who claimed that Kaipat beat him up.<\/p>\n
The man had a swollen and lacerated left eye and bloodied left ear. Medics brought the victim to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Wabol learned that Kaipat had entered the victim\u2019s house and ate their food. When the victim confronted him, Kaipat punched him in the face and head.<\/p>\n
Police also learned that a day before the incident, Kaipat also punched the victim\u2019s 12-year-old son in the face for no apparent reason.<\/p>\n
Wabol said Kaipat was also arrested last Feb. 12 for slapping a man in the face thrice and cussing at him along the pathway across J\u2019s Restaurant in Chalan Lau Lau.<\/p>\n
Six days later, Wabol said, a doctor at the Commonwealth Health Center called police after Kaipat allegedly punched a nurse in the stomach and threatened to chop his head off. At the time, Kaipat was a patient at CHC\u2019s psychiatric ward.<\/p>\n
Wabol said police also arrested Kaipat last Feb. 26, this time for damaging the door of an apartment and the rear passenger door of a vehicle.<\/p>\n
Last March 31, Kaipat was arrested for criminal trespass at Marianas High School.<\/p>\n
