{"id":199132,"date":"2015-04-15T04:00:38","date_gmt":"2015-04-14T18:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=199132"},"modified":"2015-04-15T04:00:38","modified_gmt":"2015-04-14T18:00:38","slug":"hsc-25-rescues-distressed-mariners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/hsc-25-rescues-distressed-mariners\/","title":{"rendered":"\ufeffHSC-25 rescues distressed mariners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ASAN, Guam<\/strong>\u2014Sailors from Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 conducted a search-and-rescue operation and retrieved five distressed mariners west of Apra Harbor on U.S. Naval Base Guam on April 11.<\/p>\n<p>HSC-25 received a request from U.S. Coast Guard Sector Guam at approximately 7:25pm about five people who drifted away from Family Beach while on a jet ski and raft.<\/p>\n<p>Knightrider 01, a Navy MH-60S helicopter, was launched from Andersen Air Force Base at approximately 8:20pm. The crew located the survivors at 10:15pm. They were then transported to U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.<\/p>\n<p>HSC-25 has conducted seven searches, eight medical evacuations, seven rescues and two recovery efforts this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur SAR posture benefits the Navy by providing future aviation leaders with real-world experience and proficiency in lifesaving missions,\u201d said HSC-25 aircraft commander Lt. Monica Mondloch. \u201cIn an era where most missions and training exercises are planned well in advance, SAR is a unique mission that time-critical problem solving and decision making.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HSC-25 is the Navy\u2019s only forward-deployed MH-60S expeditionary squadron.
