Team Joeten Dolphins will join anew the 2015 Marianas March Against Cancer, the signature event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association.<\/p>\n
Team Joeten Dolphins captains Patty P. McDonald from Joeten and Daidai Foundation and Lorraine Catienza from Marianas High School said it will be their fourth year to partner together for the 2015 MMAC.<\/p>\n
\u201cJoeten and Daidai Foundation has been involved with MMAC as a title sponsor since its inception. MHS has also had a long history with MMAC,\u201d McDonald said.<\/p>\n
McDonald said what got their team interested in participating in the 2015 MMAC event is that it is a \u201ctruly meaningful event.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we heard that MHS was looking for a sponsor four years ago, we immediately reached out to them. Since then, it has been a great partnership. We\u2019re overjoyed to be able to work with young men and women. They are the future leaders of the CNMI,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
McDonald said their team plans to sell drinks and snacks on one side of the tent, while the other side will host a live GetFit CNMI demonstration and have information on health, fitness, and lifestyle.<\/p>\n
She said their two favorite parts of the MMAC are the lighting of the luminaries and the race to complete the most laps around the track.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe lighting of the luminaries is such an amazing moment because out of the darkness, you see all these lights flickering across the entire field and you realize that each candle represents a person who has battled or continues to battle cancer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe scene is shocking but also comforting to know that you\u2019re not alone in this epic fight. The race to complete the most laps is also another fun part for us because it pushes our students to edge out the other schools,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
She urged others in the community to form a team for the 2015 MMAC, saying it takes time and effort to build a team but that it is nothing compared to the individual efforts of those battling cancer.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s event will be held at the Hopwood Junior High School field from May 1 to 2.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
