Sablan (Ind-MP) is expected to report to work this week, more than two months after he underwent a delicate spine surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Schwalbach, the lawmaker\u2019s chief of staff, said Sablan \u201cis back at work as of this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecovery from this type of back surgery requires a program of physical therapy to regain full function. Mr. Sablan will be beginning the physical therapy this month and that may continue for some time,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On March 4, Sablan underwent successful surgery at the George Washington University Hospital to alleviate pressure on his spine.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Anthony Caputy, who led the surgical team, described the three-hour operation as \u201ccompletely normal and according to expectation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An extended period of home recovery with limited activity followed before he began physical therapy to restore a full range of mobility.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan filed for a leave of absence on Feb. 20, citing the need for the surgery on his back.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan earlier said that shuttling back and forth between the Commonwealth and Washington, D.C., in the last six years took a heavy toll on his back.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan just recently began his fourth term as the CNMI nonvoting representative to the 114th House of Representatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Delegate Gregorio Kilili C.
