Team Korason will be joining the 2015 Marianas March Against Cancer, the signature event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s captain is Alisa Ann \u201cChicha\u201d Pangelinan, who said this will be their second time to take part in the fundraiser.<\/p>\n
\u201cTeam Korason, originally Team Dolores (Korason) participated in the first Relay for Life in 1999. The team took a long break, a very long break, but remained present indirectly and returned as Team Korason last year,\u201d she said. The MMAC used to be called Relay for Life.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said that what got their team interested in participating in the 2015 MMAC is Dolores T. Benavente, known to them as \u201cAuntie Ling,\u201d fought the good fight and passed away in 1994.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was a vibrant sibling of the Tenorio family and inspired us to form a team when the ACS Relay for Life event came around. Since then we have lost loved ones to the fight. They are Dionicio C. Torres and Maximo DLG Camacho,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have many members who continue the good fight, like Roslyn Tenorio, Sophia Tenorio, and many others. For our team the MMAC is a way to reunite and fight together to provide support and love to our family members and friends with the battle against cancer,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Pangelinan said they formed their team as a family.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday Cecilia \u2018Auntie Chilang\u2019 Camacho\u2019s home, which we fondly call \u2018The Farm\u2019 is the home base where we often gather with Auntie Cil\u2019s open heart with her children. The children and grandchildren of the Korason line of Blas and Guadulape line gathered and decided to bring back participation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Team Korason plans for this year\u2019s event is to camp out or sleep over in the evening and entertain themselves with card games, board games, and some bingo games for the night.<\/p>\n
Their favorite part of the MMAC is the luminary ceremony because it is \u201cthe most moving and beautiful portion of the MMAC.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pangelinan is urging others to join in the efforts by making a team and supporting the 2015 MMAC.<\/p>\n
