He said he always desired to go to film school but felt like he had to decide between his two passions: teaching and filmmaking.

“This summer intensive [program] is the perfect way to balance both passions and, perhaps, combine them,” he told Saipan Tribune.

According to the course’s website, the program is a “fast paced, teamwork-oriented, accelerated course that develops the creative talents of a select number of inspiring filmmakers in the essential aspects of today’s digital film and technologies.”

The program’s goal is to immerse participants in the business and art of visual storytelling, while instructed by award-winning faculty members.

This is not Guerrero’s first encounter with NYU. The 1991 MCS alumnus applied to the university in 2004, but had to withdraw his application when Bishop Emeritus Tomas A. Camacho requested that he return to his alma mater to serve as its principal.

Guerrero’s passion for teaching and filmmaking has gone hand in hand with the school Theatre Club’s 17 years of film and production success. Under his guidance, the school has produced over 30 films and live productions. Many past and current students of Guerrero have said that his work inspires generations of performers, orators, actors, tech gurus, and filmmakers.

From behind the scene production to the debut of a live performance, Guerrero has successfully molded several students into passionate and hardworking thespians.

MCS Theatre Club member and junior student Markel Toves said that Guerrero instills enthusiasm, creativity, and imagination in the school’s club.

“I’ve always wanted to become a superhero or superhuman. With the magic Mr. Guerrero has shown me with theater club and film, lots of things seem so possible.
