Eloy S. Inos led other officials at a ceremony proclaiming May as \u201cPublic Safety Awareness Month\u201d in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>Inos also thanked members of the CNMI\u2019s Department of Public Safety in the proclamation ceremony at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Inos, in a speech before members of the police force, said he is thankful for the \u201cmen and women in blue\u201d for keeping the CNMI safe.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_200113\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-200113\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a attid=\"200113\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/police-1-april-23.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/police-1-april-23-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Lawmakers surround Gov. Pinaroc)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe law enforcement agencies of the CNMI work tirelessly to protect our citizens, enforce our laws, and keep our neighborhoods safe. They report for duty knowing full well the dangers they face and sacrifices they may be called upon to make,\u201d Inos said. \u201cWe gather here once a year, to express our gratitude to the many of you facing the challenges of apprehending crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor said he personally wants to acknowledge and thank the efforts of the police force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for being out there, I sleep good at night these days, because I know you are out there protecting our community,\u201d Inos said.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the proclamation, May 10 to May 16 was also designated as \u201cCNMI Police Week\u201d and May 15, 2015, as \u201cPeace Officers Memorial Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of the government\u2019s safety campaign, May 18 to May 31 was designated as \u201cClick It or Ticket Mobilization\u201d in the CNMI to urge all citizens to wear seatbelts when driving or riding on roadways. Further, May 16 to May 22 was designated as \u201cCNMI Safe Boating Week.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov. Eloy S.
