Team Bodig will be joining the 2015 Marianas March Against Cancer, the signature fundraising event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s captain is Bridgette Camacho. Their team has been involved with MMAC since 2002. Camacho said their team\u2019s long history with the event dates back to 1999 when it was first called \u201cRelay for Life.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCancer touches each and every one of us. Our team has seen many loved ones who have won their battle to cancer, a celebration of life, but also many who have lost their fight to this deadly disease,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n
The reason her team is joining is that the event is an important part of overcoming the grief associated with the disease.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is an important part of recovery from cancer, including recovery for families that have lost their loved ones in a way that did not consume our lives and, instead, became part of our lives,\u201d Camacho<\/p>\n
Camacho said they formed their team because their mother, who survived cancer for 10 years, reached out to many of their relatives and friends that stood firm and supported her.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe guided us with passion and dedication until 2004 when she lost her battle to cancer. Our team continued to grow each year as members of our families and friends experience the fate of cancer and through the love and support of families, friends, and the community, we remain strong in our commitment to MMAC,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n
Team Bodig\u2019s plan this year is to sell food and drinks and support the survivors and families.<\/p>\n
Their favorite part is the luminary ceremony.<\/p>\n
Camacho is urging others to join in the efforts by making a team and supporting the 2015 MMAC.<\/p>\n
\u201cMMAC is coming together as a community, in the spirit and hope that one days soon, cancer will be a thing of the past. It is equally important to be educated about this life-threatening disease,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s even will be held at the Hopwood Junior High School field this Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
