{"id":200471,"date":"2015-04-29T04:00:04","date_gmt":"2015-04-28T18:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=200471"},"modified":"2015-04-29T04:00:04","modified_gmt":"2015-04-28T18:00:04","slug":"fbi-joins-probe-into-guards-fatal-shooting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fbi-joins-probe-into-guards-fatal-shooting\/","title":{"rendered":"FBI joins probe into guard\u2019s fatal shooting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the Department of Public Safety\u2019s investigation into the fatal shooting of security guard James Patrick Deleon Guerrero inside a poker arcade in Afetnas.<\/p>\n<p>As this developed, DPS Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero disclosed yesterday that the autopsy showed that Deleon Guerrero died of a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.<\/p>\n<p>A source at DPS said the FBI is also investigating the shooting incident because the crime involved a firearm.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Saipan Tribune\u2019s inquiry, FBI spokesman Tom Simon yesterday confirmed that the FBI is assisting DPS police in their investigation of the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt remains a police investigation,\u201d Simon said.<\/p>\n<p>He said any comments regarding the case should come from the police.<\/p>\n<p>Guam chief medical examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola did the autopsy on Deleon Guerrero\u2019s remains at the Commonwealth Health Center\u2019s morgue on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Espinola was reportedly summoned to the crime scene last April 21 where he pronounced the victim dead.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, Espinola was about to leave for Guam after doing an autopsy on the body of Ana Maria Limes, who was killed inside her house in Oleai. The body was found last April 20.<\/p>\n<p>Deleon Guerrero was on duty at Royal Poker in Afetnas when a masked man entered the establishment and shot him with a handgun.<\/p>\n<p>Police discovered Deleon Guerrero\u2019s body in the bathroom. A female cashier was also shot at but she was not hit as she had locked herself and ducked inside the cashier\u2019s booth.
